Paid lead lists vs watching eBay yourself
Last checked
A paid lead list hands you products someone else found. A watcher looks for listings of products you already sell. Both are legitimate and suit different sellers. We build a watcher, MarginPing, so we say so up front. We describe lead lists as their own pages describe them, and we say where a list is the better fit.
Short answer
If you want a steady supply of product ideas researched by someone else, a lead list can save you research time. If you already sell a catalog and your problem is spotting eBay listings for it and doing the Amazon math, a watcher is the closer match. Some sellers use one to pick products and the other to buy them.
What a lead list is
A lead list is a set of product opportunities that someone else researched, delivered on a schedule to subscribers. You read the leads and decide which to buy.
The one list we read in detail is ArbitrageClub. Per their public page on 2026-10-28, it describes manually sourced leads, a minimum of 200 leads per week per group, a cap of 55 members per group, and minimum rules for profit, return and monthly sales on each lead. Their page does not say which stores the leads come from in the parts we read. Other lists may work differently, and we make no claim about them.
The value of a list is the research. Someone else spends the hours, and you get the result.
A question to ask any list
Per their page on 2026-10-28, ArbitrageClub caps each group at 55 members. Ask any list how many members receive the same leads, and weigh that against the research time it saves you.
Where a list is the better fit
- Hands-off ideas. You do not need a catalog or a method. You read and decide.
- Idea generation. A list can show you products and stores you would not have thought of. A watcher cannot, because it only watches what you give it.
- Human curation. A person has already filtered out many weak leads.
- Learning. New sellers learn what a good lead looks like by reading many of them.
If you are new and want a guided start, a list is a reasonable choice. Read its cancellation and money-back terms first, and judge it on how many leads you actually acted on.
Where a watcher fits
- Your catalog only. MarginPing watches eBay for products you already sell, so every alert is for something you can list.
- Built from your list. Alerts come from your own product list rather than a list sent to a group. Other sellers of the same product can still find the same eBay listing, so this is not exclusive.
- The math is done. Each alert shows the Amazon price, estimated fees and your estimated profit, with a green or amber flag and a word against your minimum.
- No connection required. You can upload your All Listings Report from Seller Central instead of connecting your Amazon account.
A watcher has limits too. It needs your products to start, so it does not generate ideas. It watches eBay, not retail websites. MarginPing starts with power tools and tool kits, it does not buy for you, and it is in final testing, not open for signups yet.
Using both
- Use a list, or your own research, to decide which products to sell.
- Put those products on a watcher so you see eBay listings for them with the math done.
- Review monthly and drop whichever one did not produce purchases you acted on.

Questions
Is a paid lead list worth it?
It can be, if you act on enough leads to cover the subscription. Ask how many members receive the same leads. Read the cancellation terms and judge it on what you actually bought.
What is the difference between a lead list and sourcing software?
A list is a curated set of leads delivered to subscribers. Software lets you search or watch for products yourself. A watcher like MarginPing monitors eBay for the products on your own list.
Do lead lists include eBay listings?
We have not confirmed that for any list. ArbitrageClub's page, as read on 2026-10-28, describes manually sourced leads without naming eBay in the parts we read. Ask for a sample before you subscribe.
Can a watcher replace a lead list?
If you already know what you sell, it covers the buying side. If you need product ideas, a list or your own research comes first.
