Power tool alerts for Amazon sellers who buy on eBay

Supported category
Power tools and tool kits are the category MarginPing starts with, including kits with the battery packed in. MarginPing is in final testing and not open for signups yet.
Power tools are where MarginPing starts. If you already sell DeWalt, Milwaukee or Makita tools on Amazon, MarginPing watches new eBay listings for those exact products, works out the Amazon fees and your profit, and messages your phone through Telegram when a listing clears the profit line you set.
You read the alert, open the listing, and decide. MarginPing never buys, bids, or messages a seller.
Why power tools suit this
Power tools have something most secondhand goods lack: clean identifiers. Every cordless drill, impact driver and saw has a model number on its label, and many listings show a UPC. That lets a listing be matched to one specific Amazon item instead of a guess from the title.
They also come up for sale steadily. Contractors upgrade, homeowners clear garages, and estates sell tool chests, so new listings for common models keep appearing.
We publish no profit or margin figures for this category. A percentage from someone else's blog says nothing about the listing in front of you. What an alert shows is the math for that one listing, against your own products and your own profit line.
Who it fits
MarginPing fits you if you already sell power tools or tool kits on Amazon, can share your product list, and are willing to buy on eBay by hand and keep your receipts.
You do not have to connect your Amazon account. You can upload the All Listings Report from Seller Central (and the Fee Preview Report if you want exact fees), or connect your seller account with read-only access for live prices. If you upload, the Amazon price in the math is the one in your report, as of the day you uploaded it.
It does not fit if you want something that buys for you, or if your catalog is mostly outside power tools today.
Brands, kits and the form you sell
Milwaukee M18 and M12. Watch the full catalog number. A FUEL tool and a non-FUEL tool can have similar names and different Amazon prices. Our guide on how to read a power tool model number covers the details.
DeWalt 20V MAX and FLEXVOLT. A DeWalt model number usually carries a suffix that says whether the listing is a bare tool or a kit. Sellers often drop that suffix from the title.
Makita. On many Makita cordless tools a Z ending marks the bare tool, and the kit uses the same stem with a different ending. Confirm on Makita's own page for the model.
One point matters more than brand. The same tool is sold as a bare tool, as a kit with batteries and a charger, and sometimes as a combo. Amazon lists each form as its own item with its own price, so a listing only helps you if it matches the form you sell.
Standalone battery packs are left out at first, because of shipping rules and Amazon restrictions. Kits that include a battery are in.
What an alert will show
Every alert is laid out the same way, so you can read it at a glance.
- The eBay block: the listing title, asking price, condition, and a link to the listing. It holds only what the listing says.
- The Amazon block: the Amazon price for your product, estimated Amazon fees, your estimated profit and return, and a green or amber flag with a word next to it that shows where the profit sits against your minimum.
- Under both: a match confidence score, and when the listing appeared and when we sent the alert, so you can judge how fresh it is.
The math has this shape. The alert fills in the numbers for the listing in front of you.
Amazon price for your product - estimated Amazon fees - eBay asking price - eBay shipping to you = estimated profit, before your own costs and taxes
We show the result. The decision to buy stays yours.
Mistakes to watch for
FUEL versus non-FUEL. A listing titled "M18 drill" with no catalog number could be either line. Check the label in the photos before you trust the title.
Bare tool versus kit. The same tool sells bare and as a kit, at different Amazon prices. Check that the listing is the form you sell.
Lots and battery counts. A listing for two drills, or a kit with one battery instead of two, is a different item from yours. Count what is in the photos.
Newer generations make this harder. A single digit can change between generations while the name stays almost the same, so the model number matters more than the headline.
On the MarginPing side: it matches by model number and UPC, reads kit versus bare tool and lot size from each listing before it works out profit, and shows a match confidence score, so a weak match is visible. The photo check stays with you.
Before you buy
Buying on eBay to sell on Amazon can add risk to your Amazon account. Items bought on eBay come with eBay order records, not retail invoices, and some sellers report that Amazon asked for invoices during an account review. We cannot promise how Amazon will treat your account. Keep every receipt, read Amazon's current rules for your category, and start small. This is not legal advice.

Questions
Which power tool brands will MarginPing cover?
It starts with cordless power tools and tool kits from brands like DeWalt, Milwaukee and Makita, including kits with the battery packed in. Matching works from your own product list, so what it watches is what you already sell.
Does MarginPing buy tools for me?
No. It never buys, bids, or messages a seller. You open the listing, check it, and buy it yourself.
Do I have to connect my Amazon account?
No. You can upload the All Listings Report from Seller Central, plus the Fee Preview Report for exact fees, and re-upload when your prices change. Connecting your seller account with read-only access is optional and gives live prices.
How fast are the alerts?
We do not promise a delivery time. How often each product is checked depends on how many products are being watched, and eBay's own search can show a new listing some time after it goes live. Every alert shows when the listing appeared and when we sent it.
Do you cover standalone batteries?
Not at first, because of shipping rules and Amazon restrictions. Kits that include a battery are covered.
